Getting Older Doesn’t Have to Hurt (Alleviate Pain Part 3)

In the past three articles in this series, I gave you a general overview of the typical pattern most people go through which leads them to the chiropractor’s office as well as an overview of the first stage, Pain & Avoidance, and then how the body deals with Pain through Immobilization and Disuse.

As an Asheville Chiropractor, I see many people who have lived a very active lifestyle, either from an intensely physical job or from an adventurous spirit. After a joint has been injured long enough, you develop Fibrosis, or adhesions between the joints. The cumulative effect of all these untreated injuries for many individuals is a large amount of muscle soreness and pain.

The interesting thing about people is that we are really good at ignoring a lot of long term pain. Eventually this pain gets worse than before, and the longer your body has been holding onto an old injury, the tougher it is to fix.

At this point, I work with patients to correct underlying issues. As a chiropractor, I use chiropractic adjustments to help with old injuries and sometimes use spinal decompression to help treat certain situations.

Many patients here in Asheville are interested in how acupuncture can help them, and we often couple both chiropractic and acupuncture together to effectively reduce and/or eliminate your pain and help restore your health.

Until next time, Dr. Bart
