If you spend your time running in Asheville, hiking in Asheville or biking in Asheville, this series will be of interest to you.
A good chiropractor always considers the ground – if you aren’t hitting the ground right, it’s impossible for you to have a good, healthy posture or a good running-line. It’s not just foot pain, if you have ankle, knee or hip pain, you really need to look at the ground. Everything starts at the ground.
You may be genetically pre-disposed to bunions, but you do not get bunions until the bio-mechanics in your foot break down. You might get a diagnosis such as:
- Plantar fasciitis
- Metatarsalgia
- Bunions
- Heel spurs
- Flat feet
- Overpronating
If you just treat the diagnosis, for example if you just get an injection for plantar fasciitis, you aren’t fixing the underlying issue.
We use solesupports.com, it attempts to restore the integrity of the original arch. As a side-note, there are 2 types of orthotics: corrective and accomodative. Accomodative orthotics (like dr. scholls or super feet) is just a slipper in your shoe, it’s a sponge that gives your foot more cushion, it allows for deformation.
A corrective orthotic attempts to change the way your gate cycle occurs to actually correct the foot. After the foot is corrected, you will not have to wear the orthotics all the time.
How do you know if you have a good set of orthotics? Take them out of your shoe, if you can twist them completely over. If you have one hand at the toe and one at the heel and you can completely twist your hands, it is accomodative. Orthotics have come a long way.
